DETROIT -- The last meeting between two future Hall-of-Famers will be Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park.
Miguel Cabrera is in the starting lineup for the Detroit Tigers. Justin Verlander will be making the start for the Houston Astros in the finale and rubber match of the three-game series.
Cabrera and Verlander were teammates for more than a decade. They’ve faced each other only once: Cabrera went 0-for-3 against him in 2019.

The full lineup is below. Catcher Carson Kelly; outfielder Akil Baddoo; infielder/outfielder Matt Vierling; and infielder Zack Short are available off the bench.
On the mound, Tigers right-hander Alex Faedo (2-4, 4.91 ERA) will face Verlander (9-6, 3.19).
Faedo was drafted by the Tigers in the first round in 2017, about two months before the Tigers shipped Verlander to the Astros in a now-infamous deal.
Tigers vs. Astros: Odds, picks and predictions
After parts of six seasons with the Astros, Verlander signed a two-year, $86.7 million deal with the New York Mets this offseason. After opening the year on the injured list, Verlander made his first start with the Mets in Detroit in May.
When the Mets’ season crumbled, he was sent back to the Astros at the trade deadline four weeks ago. He’s pitched well back home in Houston, going 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA in four starts.
