HOLT, MI -- An early morning crash left two 16-year-old girls dead and a man severely injured Saturday, police said.
At about 3 a.m. Aug. 26, deputies from the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to an automated crash notification in the area of Sycamore and Schoolcraft streets in Holt.
At the scene, deputies found a crashed vehicle with three occupants. Police believe the driver hit a parked vehicle and lost control, hitting another parked vehicle before coming to a stop, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The driver -- an 18-year-old man -- was taken to Sparrow Hospital with serious injuries. The vehicle’s two passengers -- both 16-year-old girls -- died on scene, police said. All three occupants of the crashed vehicle were residents of Mason.
At this point in the investigation, police believe speed to be a factor in the crash.
A full investigation into the crash is still underway. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office at 517-676-8202.
