She’s only in the 7th grade and she’s about to perform in front of millions and millions of people, not to mention a live studio audience, four celebrity judges and a celebrity host. 12-year old Brynn Cummings is in tonight’s semifinals on “America’s Got Talent.”
Cummings is a ventriloquist-magician from Paw Paw, which is west of Kalamazoo. We first met the prodigy after her audition on June 13th wowed judges, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara.
“You are so talented. So charming. People are going to root for you,” said Cowell after Cummings performed her comedy magic ventriloquist act. “You did something we’ve never seen before, and for me, you never want to see the same thing again, but not quite as good. You want to see it better, or different and that’s what you did.”
The hit NBC talent competition sent 55 acts in total into the semis. 11 will compete each Tuesday night over the next five weeks with two from each show advancing to the finals for a shot at the $1 million grand prize.
Fans will have a chance to vote for their favorite performer at the end of every episode with the results being announced each Wednesday night beginning on August 23rd.
Cummings isn’t the only Michigander to advance to the semis this season. 38-year old Philip Bowen, a fiddler who lives in Brownstown Township in Metro Detroit, impressed the judges on the episode airing on May 30. His live semifinals performance will be on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
