MECOSTA COUNTY, MI — One of three suspects has been arrested for an early Saturday morning shooting at an off-campus college apartment complex in Big Rapids Township, the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.
Police said a couple dozen bullets were fired after 3 a.m. Saturday and a 21-year-old woman inside the apartment was shot in the leg. The address of the complex near Ferris State was not released.

The suspect, behind bars in the Mecosta County Jail as of Sunday, Aug. 27, awaits arraignment at the 77th District Court in Reed City, according to Mecosta County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Mike Mohr.
In a statement, Mohr said law enforcement agencies continue to search for the two remaining suspects in the shooting. Investigators found a “large shooting scene” with more than 40 casings fired from several handguns.
No health update was given on the woman shot. She was transported Saturday to Corewell Health - Big Rapids Emergency Department for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
