KENT COUNTY, MI – As communities in Kent County continue clean-up from a destructive storm, local agencies are offering assistance in disposal of storm-related brush and tree debris.
Local townships have opened storm waste disposal centers, allowing residents to drop off yard, brush and tree debris caused by severe storms – that included seven tornadoes statewide – on Thursday, Aug. 24.

Below is a list of drop-off sites:
Plainfield and Alpine townships
· Versluis Park at 3650 Versluis Park NE, off Northland Drive in Plainfield Township. Disposal drop-offs will be available from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting Saturday, Aug. 26, through Saturday, Sept. 2.
· A drop-off location is setup on property at 5580 Alpine Ave. in Comstock Park. The site will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, through Friday, Sept. 1.
The services are available only to Alpine and Plainfield township residents and property owners. Residents will need to provide identification for drop-off.
Yard waste or tree debris will only be accepted. No commercial or industrial products will be taken. Loads will be inspected and any load that is not “green,” meaning tree or brush waste, will be rejected.
Cannon Township
Storm waste drop-off is available to anyone in need 24 hours a day Sunday through Saturday at the Cannon Township Center, at 6878 Belding Road NE in Rockford.
Water, bathrooms, and phone charging stations are also available.
Yard waste or tree debris is only accepted, and commercial or industrial products will not be accepted.
