She’s only in the 7th grade and she has made it all the way into the semifinals on one of the biggest and most-watched television competition shows in the world. Brynn Cummings, 12, just performed live on “America’s Got Talent” in hopes of making it into the finals for a shot at the $1 million grand prize.
UPDATE: See if Brynn Cummings advanced to the “AGT” finale
She is a magician-ventriloquist from Paw Paw near Kalamazoo. We first met the prodigy after her audition on June 13th wowed judges, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara.
Fifty-five acts made it to the semifinals, with 11 performing each Tuesday night, with two from each show making it to the finale. This was the first live semifinals show. Fans can vote up to 10 times until Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. ET by clicking here. Fans can also vote for free via the “AGT” mobile app.
Cummings had two big magical reveals in tonight’s performance. She had Klum choose, at random, another bird for a love connection. Cummings revealed that Klum chose the bird in which she had another puppet of. Then, she made the audience turn over their cards which revealed a large image of the same bird.
“That was amazing,” said Mandel after the performance. “You’re adorable and you blend magic and ventriloquism. You deserve to be here. I hope America loves you.”
“That was amazing because it’s so unique,” said Vergara. “In a show that we have seen everything, we’ve seen so many ventriloquists and now to see you also doing mentalism, I can’t even imagine the amount of concentration that you need to do.”
“You’ve got to remember what you do, which is ventriloquism and you do it brilliantly. I mean, seriously, brilliantly,” said Cowell.
And Cummings isn’t the only Michigander to advance to the semis this season. Philip Bowen, 38, a fiddler who lives in Brownstown Township in Metro Detroit, impressed the judges on the episode airing on May 30. His live semifinals performance will be on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
“America’s Got Talent” season 18 continues every Tuesday night at 8/7c on NBC. Stream the 2023 season for free with a trial from Fubo and DIRECTV Stream, and enjoy episodes the following day on Peacock.
