More than 113,000 without power after storm blows across Michigan

KENT COUNTY, MI -- Consumers Energy reported about 113,000 customers without electricity at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24 after a storm with strong winds cut across Michigan.

The storm began to cause damage about 8 p.m., with a trained spotter in Alpine Township reporting a possible tornado.

It continued across the center part of Lower Michigan and into Ingham County.

The Ingham County emergency manager reported there were multiple power lines down in the St. Johns area, as well as well as a house fire due to lightning in the Holt area.
