CONCORD, MI – Trail Head Coffee Shop is offering great coffee, treats and a community-oriented atmosphere in Concord.
The idea to open a coffee shop came to owner Becky Raut after visiting Les Cheneaux Coffee Roasters, her friend’s business in the Upper Peninsula. Raut said she was never a coffee drinker before trying their coffee but fell in love with the drink.
Raut decided to bring her new love of coffee with her to the village of Concord.
“We moved here when the pandemic hit, and we had to put it off a little bit,” Raut said. “Then we decided just after that to go ahead with it.”
The coffee shop has been open since summer 2022, and so far, Raut said has seen nothing but success and community support from residents. The shop is popular with students from Spring Arbor University and Concord High School, families and local clubs, she said.
“It’s far beyond my love for coffee or my love for owning a business. It’s the fact that it offers a place where people can connect,” she said. “They’re just enjoying another thing to do here in town.”
The business has a rustic and welcoming atmosphere, Raut said. But it’s the coffee, drinks and snacks that bring people out.
Trail Head Coffee Shop makes a variety of lattes, mochas, frozen drinks and a great caramel macchiato. For those who don’t drink coffee, smoothies, tea, chai lattes and hot chocolate are also on the menu.
The most popular drinks are the café meil, which is made with honey and cinnamon, as well as the bourbon caramel latte, she said.
When it comes to the food, pastries from Bliss Bakeshop in Brooklyn can be found at the shop. Scones, cookies, a cinnamon almond coffee cake and more are available.
Pretzels served with cream cheese are also popular sellers, along with bagels, oatmeal and other quick-serve items.
Trail Head Coffee Shop, 118 N. Main St. is Concord, is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
