JACKSON, MI – City Crepes has moved two doors down, bringing better aesthetics to its same favorite foods.
The mother-daughter team of Janice and Nikki Lane opened the restaurant around 11 years ago. Previously, it was inside 137 N. Jackson St.
However, when Blue Julep moved down the street, the Lanes moved into the empty corner space in mid-December. So far, business has been great, Nikki said.

The new space at 145 N. Jackson St. isn’t much different than the former one, but has seen some slight improvements, she said.
“It has the nice wood floors, and we were able to put in new lighting, so we don’t have fluorescent lighting anymore,” Nikki said.
The bigger windows also make it an ideal space to eat, she said.
“It just makes it feel way more open in here, which I love,” Nikki said.
The new space is just a “smidge” bigger than the old one, but the Lanes were able to fit in around eight additional seats, including some bar seats by the window. The kitchen and back rooms are also a little larger, Nikki said.
While some slight changes can be seen with the layout, the same “quaint bistro feel” can be found at City Crepes. The same great breakfast food is also there, Nikki said.
Using griddles imported from France, the crepes are made with both sweet and savory ingredients, including vegan and gluten-free options.
The most popular of the savory crepes is The Downtown made with chicken, Fontina cheese, tomato and pesto, Lane said. On the sweeter side, The Fire Hydrant is also a big seller. It comes with raspberry preserves and crème fraiche.
People can also look forward to some popular seasonal dishes this winter, including The Coffeehouse, which comes with espresso mascarpone and then drizzled with Ghirardelli chocolate.
City Crepes, 145 N. Jackson St., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. More information can be found on City Crepes Facebook page.
