SALINE, MI -- Mac’s Acadian Seafood Shack brings a different kind of lunch and dinner spot to downtown Saline.

Owners Wally and Cindy MacNeil opened the seafood restaurant inspired by Nova Scotia heritage in 1996. Mac’s menu is known for combining Cajun cuisine with “old world English charm,” according to its website, and has options for salads, soups, sandwiches, pastas and, of course, seafood.

Some of Mac’s popular dishes include lobster and shrimp fettuccine, jambalaya and pecan crusted whitefish, Executive Dining Room Manager Analee Burgess said. The restaurant features fresh seafood everyday and makes its dishes from scratch using fresh ingredients.

“We have the Cajun flair so that entices (customers) and we we cut our own fish and we get it in fresh every day,” Burgess said. “You can trust where we’re getting it from (whether it is) straight from the ocean or straight from the lake.”

The restaurant often sources seafood, like its salmon, from the Atlantic Ocean and its oysters from Nova Scotia, Burgess said. Mac’s also offers a cocktail hour from 4 to 6:30 p.m. every day, with discounted oysters, appetizers and featured drinks on the menu.

Beyond fresh seafood, Burgess said Mac’s is all about being an approachable spot that’s always consistent in the quality of its dishes.

“Food brings people together and when they come to a restaurant we want them to feel welcomed, comfortable and have a good experience. We want them to be able to come back for years on end,” she said.

Mac’s Acadian Seafood Shack, 104 E. Michigan Ave., is open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Find it online, on social media or by phone at 734-944-6227.
