JACKSON, MI – The Five Forks is baking up sweet treats in the area, including some unique cakes.

Owners and sisters Mallory Vredeveld and Maddison Husted have been working out of their new brick and mortar since Friday, Feb. 10. So far, Jackson residents have been loving the baked goods, they said.

“We’ve just been really blown away by the support from the community,” Vredeveld said. “It’s been probably more than I had hoped for, which is pretty fantastic.”

The Five Forks is selling a large range of goods, both custom orders and grab-and-go items. Inside of the big case, people can find a range of rotating cakes, cupcakes and chocolate-covered Oreos.

Their biggest seller has been the cakesicles, Husted said. The item is ‘pretty much’ a whole cupcake including the frosting squished together, which is then dipped in chocolate, Vredeveld added.

The easy to eat item is then served on a popsicle stick.

“It’s like a cake pop, but bigger,” Vredeveld said.

These have been a fan favorite since they first started the bakery out of their homes during the pandemic. It is especially popular with parents since it’s less messy for them and their kids to eat, Husted said.

Other popular items are the mini cakes, which people love to grab for very small gatherings or for a quick gift. The cake jars have been a hit as well, since they can be eaten all at once, or saved in the fridge for later, they said.

Flavors for each item are always changing, but staples like chocolate, vanilla and lemon will usually stay for cakes and cupcakes, Vredeveld said.

The Five Forks is continuing to expand their business, looking to add onto the food they offer, including cookies, which come in a range of flavors such as raspberry cheesecake. They are also hoping to offer more events and classes in the back sometime in the future, Vredeveld said.

While they are enjoying the ready-made items, they are still dedicated for custom orders for corporate events and weddings. A large couch, chairs and tables are currently set up for larger consultations for weddings and bigger party orders.

The Five Forks is located at 1194 N. West Ave., Suite A. The bakery is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Hours may expand in the future, they said.

More information and custom orders can be made on The Five Forks website.
