GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The head of the public authority that oversees Van Andel Arena, DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall says he’s hopeful a professional soccer stadium will be built in Grand Rapids by 2026.

“Fingers are crossed still for a 2026 season for soccer,” Rich MacKeigan, the executive director of the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority, said Friday when speaking to the authority’s board.
