BELLEVILLE, MI -- Officials with the National Weather Service have yet another confirmation of a tornado touching down in Michigan Thursday night. The NWS says an EF-1 tornado hit the ground nearly two miles west of Belleville around 10:23 p.m in the area of the Wagner Homestead Farm on West Huron River Drive.
The tornado tracked southeast and began damaging trees in the area of Elwood Road near Belmont Drive. From there the tornado hit the Mobile Manor Trail Park where a tree was broken in half. Other tree damage was noted where the tornado approached Martinsville Road.
Trees were downed and siding was ripped off of homes in that area. The storm also brought a tree limb down on a house before it dissipated in the area of Pebblebrook Drive and Fret Road around 10:26 p.m., roughly 1.4 miles southeast of Belleville. No injuries or fatalities have been reported in connection with the tornado.
Another tornado has already been confirmed in the area as an EF-0 tornado hit Canton just minutes before this one touched down.
Damage surveyors have been dispatched across the state Friday to determine how many tornadoes actually touched down and sort of damage was caused. So far, five people have been confirmed to have died during the storms that hammered Michigan from Grand Rapids to Detroit and multiple places in between.
