ANN ARBOR, MI -- Although it may not always feel like it, Michigan has officially entered spring.

This means the weather is bound to eventually warm up and you’ll soon be wondering where you can score the perfect frozen dessert. Ann Arbor has a variety of shops offering all kinds of flavors to choose from.

This Ann Arbor dairy shop has spent decades scooping a variety of ice cream flavors for customers.

Washtenaw Dairy, 602 S Ashley St., began serving its products in 1934 and soon transitioned into more of an ice cream and doughnut shop in the 1980s.

Nowadays, customers can find all kinds of ice cream whether the want something chocolatey or fruity.

Flavors include non-dairy chocolate, as well as lemon sorbet, rainbow sherbet, Blue Moon, Superman, chocolate chip, cookies and cream, mint chocolate, peppermint, coffee, chocolate peanut butter and more.

The dairy is also known for its doughnuts like chocolate glazed, vanilla glazed, maple glazed, cinnamon sugar, plain, vanilla with coconut or sprinkles and maple with peanuts.

Washtenaw Dairy is open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Blank Slate Creamery, , 300 W. Liberty St.,, opened in Ann Arbor in 2014. The family-owned business that makes its ice cream and most of its inclusions from scratch is often known for bringing unique flavors to the area along with some traditional options as well.

Customers can find browned butter cookie dough, chocolate fudge brownie, lemon bar and vanilla caramel blondie flavors. There are also gluten-free options like Bananas Foster, bittersweet chocolate, blackberry Riesling sorbet, blueberry pancake, garden mint chip, Madagascar vanilla, lavender lemon honey and fresh basil.

Blank Slate Creamery’s hours are 2 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 2 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Kilwin’s, , 107 E. Liberty St., in Ann Arbor, serves far more than just chocolate.

The long-standing business has been making its original recipe ice cream since 1985 and now offers a wide selection of flavors like Marsh-Mallow S’More, Cappuccino Chocolate Chip, New Orleans Praline Pecan, Toasted Coconut or old-fashioned vanilla.

Customers can have the ice cream by itself or enjoy it with the store’s freshly made waffle cones and hand-crafted hot fudge and caramel toppings.

The shop is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

This family-owned ice cream shop at 302 S. State St. is located just minutes away from the University of Michigan’s Central Campus.

Michigan Creamery uses only products made in Michigan and features more than 30 hand dipped flavors and two rotating custard flavors.

The business serves everything from ice cream to frozen yogurt and sorbet, as well as gourmet chocolates and coffee.

The creamery is open 2 to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 1 to 11 p.m. Friday through Saturday and 1 to 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
