ANN ARBOR, MI -- Finding the perfect cookie can be a challenge for some people as they search for an option that will bring just the right amount of sweetness.

Luckily, Ann Arbor has all kinds of cookies to choose from, whether you’re craving a traditional chocolate chip or want to experiment with a never-before-seen flavor.

If you’re craving something sweet, then sink your teeth into a variety of cookie flavors at these five Ann Arbor businesses:

1. Detroit Cookie Company

Find more than just your traditional cookie flavors at Detroit Cookie Company’s Ann Arbor location.

Detroit Cookie Company sells a variety of cookie flavors to choose from including chocolate chunk, birthday cake, browned butter pecan, banana pudding, oatmeal raisin and raspberry Oreo cheesecake.

The cookie store also offers gluten-free and vegan options as well as some seasonal flavors to choose from. Customers can expect the shops flavors to “rotate often,” according to its website. '

Prices for cookies range from $2 to $5 each, $12 for half a dozen or $22 a dozen with specialty cookies costing a little extra.

The Ferndale-based cookie company opened its Ann Arbor store in 2021 and has other locations in Grand Rapids and St. Clair Shores.

The store’s hours are noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, noon to 10 p.m. Thursday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

2. Bakehouse 46

Customers can find all kinds of sweet treats at Bakehouse 46.

The cafe’s cookie options include regular and vegan chocolate chip, ginger snap, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin and even a monster cookie that is made with oats, chocolate candies, peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Bakehouse 46 has other locations in Birmingham, Plymouth, Rochester and Grosse Pointe.

The store’s Ann Arbor location is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Cinnaholic opens first Michigan location in Ann Arbor

3. Cinnaholic

Vegans looking for a go-to chocolate chip cookie should look no further.

Cinnaholic at 121 E. Liberty St. in Ann Arbor was the first Michigan location to open in 2022. Since then, the business known for its gourmet vegan cinnamon rolls has been offering other desserts like cookies and cookie dough.

Customers can find soft and chewy chocolate chip or Cinnadoodle cookies -- which is the company’s take on a snickerdoodle. The business also offers 10-inch cookie cakes in those same flavors with the option to add frosting and up to three toppings.

If you want to eat your cookies uncooked, the business also serves edible cookie dough in eight- and 16-ounce containers or by the scoop.

Jefferson Market may be known for its breakfast and lunch -- but it also has some options for customers craving a cookie.

The market serves up cookies like brown butter sea salt chocolate chip, oatmeal scotchie, peanut butter sandwich and gluten-free coconut cardamom, according to its online menu.

Beyond cookies, customers can enjoy menu items like corned beef hash, huevos rancheros or the market’s breakfast burritos.

5. Zingerman’s Bakehouse

Cookie lovers may want to take some time to see what Zingerman’s has to offer.

The bakehouse is currently serving its funky chocolate cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, Italian pine nut cookies and Palmiers. Zingerman’s newest cookie is its Almondinger which features a blend of coconut and almonds, according to its website.

There are even some cookies for University of Michigan football fans to show support for their favorite team. The bakehouse’s M-shaped cookies are individually wrapped and decorated with blue fondant and a maize football.

If you’re looking for something for Easter, the business is selling egg-shaped cookies with a hint of fresh citrus zest. The bakehouse also creates custom cookies whether you have a big event or just want something more personal.
