WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI -- Sit back, relax and prepare to find good glass of whiskey in a variety of places in and around Ann Arbor.

Plenty of bars in Ann Arbor and other communities in Washtenaw County offer extensive whiskey menus, whether you want to try a new whiskey or just enjoy a night filled with the drink’s smooth, warming flavors.

Whiskey lovers can find their perfect glass at Mash.

The bourbon, whiskey and beer bar has two locations at 211 E. Washington St. in Ann Arbor and at 400 N. River St. in Ypsilanti. Both spots feature live music, a range of handcrafted cocktails and, of course, plenty of whiskey options to choose from.

The Last Word

Customers can find bourbon, Scotch, rye and other kinds of whiskeys available in either a 1-ounce tasting pour or a 2-ounce sipping pour at this Ann Arbor cocktail and whiskey bar.

“We like to give our customers the option of trying all that our whiskey collection has to offer without going bankrupt or ending up under the table,” The Last Word’s menu states.

Those looking for a bite to eat to pair with their beverage can explore The Last Word’s menu filled with options like Creole gumbo, short rib poutine, venison sliders and chicken and waffles.

Ugly Dog Distillery in Chelsea

Ugly Dog Distillery

Ugly Dog Distillery in Chelsea is a combination of an in-house distillery and tasting room that offers a wide variety of Kentucky bourbons to choose from with flavor options like peanut butter, salted caramel, Michigan cherry, peach and s’mores.

Ugly Dog Distillery, 218 S. Main St. in Chelsea, is open noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Babs’ Underground

Babs’ Underground has a whole list of whiskey options available, along with beers, wine and a range of cocktails. Customers can find bourbon, rye and imported whiskeys from places including Scotland, Ireland and Japan.

Ann Arbor Distilling Co. distills whiskey

Ann Arbor Distilling Company has been creating its line of Fox River whiskeys for a few years. It has options including bourbon, rye whiskey and even a Michigan whiskey that’s a blend of four Michigan grains filtered with cherrywood charcoal.

The business prides itself on using ingredients sourced in Michigan for its vodkas, gins, and other alcoholic beverages.
