ANN ARBOR, MI -- Dog owners in Ann Arbor no longer have to worry about making plans without their pets.

With the weather warming up, more restaurants are opening up their patios and taking advantage of some Ann Arbor downtown street closures that are now in full effect.

These outdoor patios are offering more options for dog owners to bring their favorite pals, with some restaurants in downtown Ann Arbor and beyond letting dogs dine with their owners outside.

Here’s a look at five different examples of dog-friendly restaurants and tasting rooms throughout Ann Arbor.

1. Grizzly Peak Brewing Company

Looking for a meal for both you and your dog? Grizzly Peak Brewing Company has you covered.

While the brewpub offers its customers menu items like pizzas, burgers and hot sandwiches alongside craft beer on tap, Grizzly Peak has a menu completely dedicated for pups along with complimentary dog dishes.

Menu options include a cheeseburger on a house bun known as pup patty, either salmon or chicken served on rice called a skinny dog or dog-sized bacon “snacks” called bacon bites.

For dessert, dog owners can also order their pets a pup sundae, which is made with vanilla ice cream with peanut butter sauce and a treat.

Grizzly Peak Brewing Company is open noon to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and noon to 2 a.m., Friday and Saturday, according to its website.

2. Blank Slate Creamery

Dog owners looking to end the day with a sweet treat can do so with Blank Slate Creamery.

Blank Slate Creamery, 300 W. Liberty St., is often known for bringing unique flavors to the area along with their takes on traditional options, as well.

The ice cream shop offers customers flavors like browned butter cookie dough, chocolate fudge brownie, lemon bar and vanilla caramel blondie along with some gluten-free options like Bananas Foster, blueberry pancake and garden mint chip.

Pups can also cool off and get their paws on the ice cream shop’s very own “pupsicles.”

Blank Slate Creamery’s hours are 2 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 2 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

3. YORK Food & Drink

Grab a glass of wine and enjoy a night out on the town with your favorite furry friend.

YORK is a dog-friendly wine bar in Ann Arbor that offers customers a European-style café with options like sandwiches, salads, avocado toast, cheeseboards and a variety of coffee drinks.

Explore the endless selection of wine with options like sparkling, red, white or rosé. If wine isn’t your style, YORK also has a wide range of cocktails and rotating draft beers to choose from.

YORK is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday as well as Sunday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Saturday.

4. Ann Arbor Distilling Company

Sip on some gin and relax outside with your dog at Ann Arbor Distilling Co.

The distilling company at 220 Felch St. creates all of its spirits from ingredients sourced in Michigan including vodkas, gins, bourbons and some other alcoholic beverages.

Along with drinks, the company sometimes has some food trucks available depending on when you visit.

Ann Arbor Distilling Co. is open 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 2 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

5. The Pretzel Bell

Enjoy a pretzel and your pup in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor.

The Pretzel Bell at 226 S. Main St. offers traditional American food options like burgers, Detroit-style pizzas and, of course, pretzels. During the warmer months, the restaurant opens up its patio for dogs to join their owners for dinner.
