WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI -- Sometimes people just want to slow down and have a cheap drink among some familiar faces.

Ann Arbor is packed with bars and restaurants offering a variety of experiences. However, there are only a select few bars in and around the city that give customers a “dive bar” experience filled with inexpensive drinks and a comfortable atmosphere.

Here’s a look at five different examples of dive bars in and around Ann Arbor.

Sit back, relax and sip on just about any drink you’re in the mood for at the Alley Bar.

The bar on West Liberty Street has a large selection of drinks, including options for whiskey, draft beers, wine, tequila and a list of some cocktails.

Some may consider the Alley Bar a “relaxed cocktail bar” while others may classify it as an “upscale dive,” according to its website.

“These days our goal at the Alley is to run a bar that we ourselves would want to drink in,” The Alley Bar’s website states. “That means good quality fresh ingredients, great cocktails, Michigan craft beer and good cheap cans in a simple relaxed setting.”

Alley Bar, 112 W. Liberty St., is open 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day. Find it online, on social media or by phone 734-662-8757.
