ANN ARBOR, MI -- Sometimes its seems like nothing can beat the meal you get from a true diner experience.

Ann Arbor has plenty of diners offering traditional breakfast items, easy lunch options and classic dinners. On top of offering quick meals, many of these restaurants have spent decades within Ann Arbor and have become staple businesses for the city.

Here are five great diners to check out around Ann Arbor.

Fleetwood Diner

Ann Arbor locals all seem to know about the iconic Fleetwood Diner and its Hippie Hash.

The diner on Ashley Street known for being open at all hours of the day has been serving the city since 1949 with its never ending list of breakfast, lunch and dinner options.

Customers can find breakfast options like omelets, pancakes, French toast and the diner’s iconic hippie hash, which is made with homemade hash browns, grilled green peppers, onions, tomatoes, broccoli, mushrooms and feta cheese served with two eggs.

Other menu items include sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, salads, fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, ribeye steaks, pork chops, chicken strips, chicken wings and fish and chips, among other dishes.

Northside Grill

Northside Grill has been serving its comfort food and service for nearly 30 years in Ann Arbor.

The family diner serves its customers a variety of breakfast and lunch options like pancakes, French toast, potato pancakes, scrambles, skillets, omelets, breakfast burritos, burgers, chicken sandwiches, seafood, soups, salads and a rotating menu of baked goods.

Northside Grill, 1015 Broadway St., is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week.

Frank’s Restaurant

Frank’s Restaurant has been bringing a typical diner experience to Ann Arbor since 1969.

The Ann Arbor staple is known for bringing its omelets, French toast, pancakes, subs, salads, burgers and corned beef hash and eggs to hungry customers every day.

The restaurant at 334 Maynard St. is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

Afternoon Delight

The Ann Arbor breakfast and lunch spot has been serving the city since 1978.

Afternoon Delight serves some common dishes like breakfast burritos, cinnamon French toast, Belgian waffles, pancakes and omelets -- but, the restaurant also serves other menu items you may not be able to find anywhere else like its eggs benedict and its iconic freshly baked bran muffins.

As for lunch, customers can find options for salads, quiche, soups and both hot and cold sandwiches. The restaurant also offers frozen yogurt, which can be served in a cup, blended into a frozen yogurt shake or even put on top of waffles or pancakes.

The restaurant at 251 E Liberty St. is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Customers can expect to order breakfast until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Bell’s Diner

Bell’s Diner brings a different approach to the “diner experience” in Ann Arbor.

Bell’s opened in 1987 and started as an all American diner before it slowly transitioned into a restaurant heavily inspired by South Korean cuisine. Today, the business brings diner classics while “embracing some of Seoul’s traditional dishes,” according to its website.

Customers can find some American breakfast dishes, salads, soups, sandwiches and burgers along with some Korean-inspired entrees and other items like noodles and bento boxes.

The diner is open 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday and 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, according to its website.
